Analysis According to SIA 267

Designing a structure according to SIA 267 essentially follows the theory of limit states.

Partial factors are introduced into the calculation to adjust the characteristic values of loads, materials, and resistance.

These partial factors are unified for all analyses within the given program, however, for individual stages it is possible to choose the "Design Situation".

SIA 267 defines three sets of coefficients for individual limit states – Type 1, Type 2, Type 3.

The programs can be grouped into several categories based on the selected approach:

  • Retaining walls and supporting structures (walls, bridge abutments, nailed slopes) – for overall verification (e.g., overturning, sliding), Type 1 coefficients are used; for structural design of components (e.g., reinforced concrete), coefficients of Type 2 are used
  • Shoring structures (Sheeting Design, Sheeting Check, Earth Pressures) – the user selects whether the calculation should be performed using Type 1 or Type 2 coefficients
  • Foundation design (footings) – calculations are performed using Type 1 coefficients
  • Slope stability analysis – calculations are performed using Type 3 coefficients
